Lemons

Lemons focuses on the simple visual character of a lemon still life, with bright fruit set against an aged striped background. The arrangement draws attention to the contrast between organic, rounded forms and the repeated lines behind them. Palette-knife impasto gives the painting a lively surface, with visible texture supporting the work’s vivid colour. The subject remains familiar and direct, but the combination of food, pattern and painterly handling gives it a more expressive quality. It is a compact still life built around clarity, colour and the pleasure of everyday forms.
